New Delhi: Major landmarks in Seoul will be turned purple next month to mark the 10th anniversary since the debut of K-pop superband BTS.
K-pop powerhouse Hyebye and the Seoul metropolitan government behind the group are discussing jointly organizing various events to celebrate the anniversary, according to music industry sources, reports Yonhap.
One of the plans discussed is to build a special venue called ‘Army Road’, named after the band’s global fan following, at prime locations in the city, sources said.
City officials hope the events will help boost Seoul’s tourism industry, which has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.
BTS has been holding its own commemorative events and festival weeks around its debut day, which falls on June 13. – Greet fans at events to interact with other fans around the world.
As this year is an important one marking its 10th anniversary, similar events are expected to take place even though some members are on their mandatory military duty.
“We are going to make an announcement when our plans for the events are decided,” said a Haibe official on condition of anonymity.
The K-pop septet will release a memoir titled ‘Beyond the Story: 10-Year Record of BTS’ in South Korea and the United States, and a commemorative postage stamp in the home country.
