New Delhi: Narcotics Control Bureau’s (NCB) ‘Operation Samudragupt’, in which the agency seized drugs worth Rs 12,000 crore, has exposed a major terror plot hatched by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Pakistan. I Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and a close associate of Dawood Ibrahim. It was a joint operation between the Indian Navy and NCB officials in which a Pakistani national was also apprehended from Kochi in Kerala.
Intelligence agencies have described it as a big cocktail of terrorism in which a large number of terrorist organizations and militants are involved. The report states that Pakistan is using D-Company, ISI, Lashkar and other terrorist organizations to smuggle drugs into India, with the aim of causing widespread harm through narcoterrorism and disrupting the country’s stability.
During the investigation, the name of Haji Ali, a close aide of Dawood Ibrahim, who is protected by ISI, has come to the fore. Haji Salim’s connection was found with Lashkar terrorist Shajidullah. It has been said in the report that Shajidullah has been the mastermind of many terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
The seized drugs worth Rs 12,000 crore indicate that a major chunk of this money was being routed through Dubai through hawala to Pakistan. Thereafter, the money was used to finance terrorism. Intelligence agencies report that Haji Salim often holds meetings with Lashkar commanders regarding drug smuggling. Intelligence agencies were able to trace an audio call made by Haji Salim to the Lashkar commander, following which the former collected information about Haji Salim’s visits to Dubai.
A Pakistani national, who was apprehended during Operation Samudragupta from Kochi, is currently in judicial custody. The intelligence agency can interrogate him on Monday.
