Texas Super Kings (TSK) on Monday sealed a place in the Major League Cricket playoffs after registering a three-wicket win over San Francisco Unicorns (SFU). The Super Kings, who are the sister franchise of MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings (CSK), moved up to the second spot on the points table after their win, meanwhile, the Unicorns remained fifth. Texas Super Kings restricted San Francisco Unicorns to 171/8 before chasing down the target in 19.1 overs.
Texas Super Kings did not have a good start in batting. Carmi Le Roux trapped captain Faf du Plessis for zero in the first over and in the second over, Kodi Chetty became the victim of Haris Rauf after scoring 4 runs off 5 balls. Devon Conway tried to get the momentum going for the Super Kings, but was stumped by Shadab Khan in the ninth over after scoring 30 off 27 balls.
In the tenth over, Milind Kumar hit a couple of fours off Marcus Stoinis but kept losing partners at the other end as the Super Kings were reduced to 92/5 in 13.1 overs. However, Daniel Sams came out to bat and provided perfect company to Milind Kumar. The duo shared a 70-run partnership off just 26 balls to take the Super Kings to 162/6 in 17.3 overs.

Earlier in the day, Unicorns won the toss and elected to bat first. Finn Allen started the Unicorns’ innings with a four, but was dismissed by Sams on the third ball of the first over. Marcus Stoinis also could not last long and was dismissed by Gerald Coetzee in the fourth over after scoring 13 runs off 12 balls. The Unicorns were in trouble at 31/2.
Matthew Wade scored a brilliant 49 off 30 balls to take his side to 85/3 in 10.2 overs, but after that the Unicorns kept losing wickets at regular intervals. However, Chaitanya Bishnoi’s 21-ball 35, studded with three fours and two sixes, helped the Unicorns post a decent score in 20 overs.
