More health sites in Western Australia have moved from paper records to digital medical records through Altera Digital Health.
Altera Opal is now live at Rockingham General Hospital, Murray District Hospital, and community health centers near Mandurah and Kwinana.
Formerly called BOSSnet, Digital Medical Records is operating at over 100 sites in Australia and is also deployed as a document management solution as part of the Sunrise Platform of Health.

Health Support Services is working closely with the WA Department of Health, healthcare providers and Altera to implement digital medical records on WA sites.
Altera Opal implementation, according to CIO Jonathan Smith is a “precursor toward implementing an integrated EMR, which will further enhance the electronic capturing of information at the point of care, minimizing paper forms.”
The solution was previously deployed on Fremantle Hospital in 2019.
Earlier this month, the WA Government announced the investment About $100 million ($68 million) to complete the first phase of the statewide rollout of digital medical records. First funded in 2020, the project is being carried out in preparation for full WA-wide EMR system implementation.

Altera APAC said, “Altera Opal has been particularly effective in WA, where it has enabled many health sites to begin their digital journeys, and in doing so, established a growing community of health benefits that physicians can raise to provide better healthcare.” EVP Todd Hebich commented.
“Through its scanning and document management capabilities, it helps healthcare sites effectively and affordably optimize their deployment strategies to budget and align with healthcare needs, driving effective health information management and clinical management.” Provides intelligent workflows that support coding. Altera Opal can also seamlessly interface with third-party software,” he added.
