Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni gave a special ‘lap of honour’ to the Chepauk crowd after their last league match after Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at home on Sunday night . It was a pleasant night for all Dhoni’s fans including former India captain Sunil Gavaskar – who rushed to get Dhoni’s shirt autographed by him.
Former India cricketer and former teammate of Dhoni, Mohammad Kaif believes that four-time IPL-winning captain MS Dhoni has given enough hints that this will be his last season as a player.
Speaking on Star Sports’ Cricket Live, Kaif said, “I think MSD has given enough hints that this is his last IPL. He keeps the world guessing and that has been his nature. But I got the feeling Dhoni will not play IPL next year.
Speaking about the surreal moment of Dhoni signing Gavaskar’s shirt, Kaif said on Cricket Live, “We have never seen Sunny sir taking any other cricketer’s autograph. A great player like Sunil Gavaskar taking Dhoni’s autograph on his shirt tells the greatness of MS Dhoni.

On ‘Super Sunday’, Royal Challengers Bangalore produced a stellar performance in all departments and registered a massive 112-run win over Rajasthan Royals. Praising RCB all-rounder Glenn Maxwell for his match-winning half-century against the formidable Rajasthan Royals bowling attack, former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh claimed that the win reflects the character of RCB and Maxwell.

Later, Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets and spoiled the party for CSK fans in the MS Dhoni-led side’s last home game in the league stages. The defeat also stalled CSK’s chances of playoff qualification as they will now have to win their final game against DC to book a berth for the knockout stages.
