Neeraj Chopra, the name that made all of India proud with the gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics, once again created history as he became the number one javelin thrower as per the new rankings released by World Athletics. Chopra is currently leading the list on 22 points, with world champion Anderson Peter of Grenada sitting at No.2.
The 25-year-old athlete from India began his 2023 season by winning the first Diamond League meeting in Doha on May 6 with an effort of 88.67m. He will be back in action on June 4 at the Fanny Blankers-Koen Games in Hengelo, Netherlands, followed by another event on June 13.

Olympic champion aims to cross 90m mark
Neeraj has most records and achievements to his name but the 90m distance is something that he has not been able to break till now. The 90 m club is considered the elite list in the men’s javelin throw. Ahead of the new season, Neeraj had said that he is sure of crossing the elusive mark this year. Let us see if Neeraj can do so in the two matches to be played in June.
