New Delhi: Two of the most awaited films of the year ‘Oppenheimer’ and ‘Barbie’ have finally hit the big screens, making the box office already crowded. The Cillian Murphy-starrer is competing with Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling’s fantasy drama. Nolan’s film earned Rs 13.50 crore on its first day, surpassing Greta’s film which had earned Rs 5 crore in India.
Both the films are getting tremendous response from the audience, now it is reported that Christopher Nolan’s film has left behind Margot Robbie’s Barbie at the Indian box office. According to tracker Sacnilk.com, ‘Oppenheimer’ earned Rs 13.50 crore in India on its opening day across all languages. At the same time, ‘Barbie’ earned Rs 5 crore in India on the first day.
Earlier, it was reported that ‘Barbie’ sold 16,000 tickets in its advance booking across three multiple chains. However, ‘Oppenheimer’ sold around 1.30 lakh tickets on the first day.

Not only this, Cillian Murphy’s ‘Oppenheimer’ has also surpassed Tom Cruise’s recently released film ‘Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One’, which earned Rs 12.50 crore in India on its opening day.
Talking about ‘Oppenheimer’, the biopic, set during World War II, follows Oppenheimer, known as the “father of the atomic bomb”, during a period in history when he understood that testing an atomic bomb would ignite the atmosphere and destroy the world, yet he pressed the button. Oppenheimer is played by Cillian Murphy, who is making his film debut in the lead role of Christopher Nolan. The star cast includes Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, Benny Safdie, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, Alden Ehrenreich, Josh Peck, Jason Clarke, David Dastmalchian, Alex Wolff, James D’Arcy and many more. Florence Pugh plays Jean Tatlock, Emily Blunt plays Kitty Oppenheimer, Robert Downey Jr. plays Lewis Strauss, and Matt Damon plays Matt Damon.
On the other hand, directed by Greta Gerwig, ‘Barbie’ takes inspiration from the beloved Barbie fashion dolls, offering a whimsical comedy within a fantasy setting. Apart from Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, the film also stars Ariana Greenblatt, Kingsley Ben-Adir, Emma Mackey and others.
