New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make a “comprehensive” statement in both Houses of Parliament on the violence in Manipur. The situation in the Northeast is critical and Manipur violence seems to be spilling over to other states as well, he said, adding that this is not good for the country’s sensitive border states.
Kharge said that the 83 days of continuous violence in Manipur required the Prime Minister to make a comprehensive statement in Parliament. “Absolute horror stories are now slowly emerging. India demands answers from Modi government on Manipur violence,” he said on Twitter. Kharge said the time has come for Modi to shed his “arrogance” and take the country into confidence on Manipur.
We are talking about companies, the Prime Minister is calling “India” as “East India Company” outside the House!
Congress party always stands with ‘Madar India’ i.e. ‘Bharat Mata’.

“PM Modi should tell what his government is doing to improve the situation and when will normalcy return to Manipur,” he said. Earlier in his adjournment notice under Rule 267 in the Rajya Sabha, Kharge sought suspension of the listed business for the day and demanded that the Prime Minister make a statement in the House.
“Shocking and unprecedented negligence of the Prime Minister towards his duty and abandonment of Manipur for more than almost 80 days,” the notice said. The Home Minister has completely failed to resolve the current issue and establish and facilitate the peace process and efforts in the State, despite visits to the State.
In his notice, Kharge said, “We demand a statement by the Prime Minister in the House on the burning and emotive issue of Manipur, which is adversely affecting the Indian democratic polity, and shall be followed by a detailed and comprehensive discussion.”
The opposition has been demanding a statement by the Prime Minister in both Houses of Parliament on the situation in Manipur, followed by a discussion.
