In the midst of their best ever IPL season, Mumbai Indians leg-spinner Piyush Chawla says the team is in a good position to make the playoffs ahead of their match against Lucknow Supergiants tomorrow.
“Things are under our control. If we win our remaining two matches, we can finish first or second. We just want to play good cricket. The team picked up the pace at the right time. Confidence is great but a lot more There is a thin line between confidence and overconfidence and we don’t want to cross that line, said Chawla.
Chawla was ruled out of the IPL for the first time last year. The snub prompted him to think about his future but he wanted to return to tournaments for his son.

“When I was not selected last year and was doing commentary, a lot of things were going on in my mind. I was not able to decide whether I should come back or explore other things. My son is big happening and he is watching.” Lots of IPL and was very excited about it. So my family told me to push myself and play for him. So I’m playing for that and putting in that extra effort.”
Chawla, a veteran of the game, said that after being out last year, he did not do much, but kept faith in his abilities and supported himself.
He said, ‘When you are playing for 20 years, you do not need to do anything special. I was playing T20 matches wherever I could. I am someone who has bowled in the nets. I love the challenge of bowling in matches.”
Despite playing at the top level for nearly two decades, Chawla is in no mood to stop at the age of 34.

“If it is up to me, I would like to play for 10 more years. As long as I am contributing to the team and putting my body at stake, I will keep playing.”
MI have been an unstoppable side as the tournament has got off to a good start after a bit of a rough start. Chawla attributed the team’s success to everyone supporting the team and getting into rhythm at the right time.
“We were just supporting each other and enjoying our cricket. The best thing about cricket is that it is a team game but it is also an individual game because only if individuals perform The team can do well. People say Mumbai gave away 200 runs but we chased that too, so you can imagine the kind of pitches we are playing on. The way we finished the game, Nice to see from the dressing room.”
Mumbai Indians will take on Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow tomorrow.
