Hi Snus,
Since last night, nearly a thousand subreddits have gone private. We expect many of them to be back by Wednesday, as many have said. While we knew this was coming, it is still a challenge and we have our work cut out for us. Many Snus are working around the clock, adapting to the strain of infrastructure, engaging with communities and responding to a myriad of issues related to this blackout. Thanks, Team.
We have not seen any significant revenue impact so far and we will continue to monitor.
There is a lot of noise with it. Among the noisiest we’ve seen. Please know that our teams are working on this, and like all blowups on Reddit, this too shall pass. The most important things we can do now are to stay focused, adapt to the challenges and keep moving forward. We should definitely send what we said. The only long term solution is improving our product, and in the short term we have some upcoming important mod tool launches that we need to nail down.
While the two biggest third-party apps, Apollo and RIF, along with a few others, have said they plan to shut down at the end of the month, we’re still in talks with a few others. And as I mentioned in my post last week, we’ll be exempting accessibility-focused apps and have so far made agreements with RedReader and Dystopia.
I’m sorry to say this, but please take care wearing Reddit gear in public. Some people are really upset, and we don’t want you to be the recipient of their frustration.
Again, we will get through this. Thank you all for helping us do this.
