Apart from the worst-affected district of Kutch due to Biparjoy, parts of Devbhoomi Dwarka, Banaskantha and Patan received very heavy rains on Friday.
Heavy rains continued in many parts of Banaskantha and Patan on Saturday morning. According to Gandhinagar-based State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC), Santalpur taluka of Patan, and Vav and Danta in Banaskantha and Poshina in Sabarkantha district received 40-50 mm of rain in four hours from 6 am on Saturday.
The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Banaskantha district as well as Patan, Mehsana and Kutch till Sunday morning. It has also warned of heavy rainfall at isolated places in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad, Surendranagar and Morbi districts during this period.
While parts of Gujarat will continue to receive rain till Wednesday morning, the IMD has said that there is no warning of heavy rain in the state from Sunday morning.
Relief Commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey earlier said that not a single person died due to any cyclone-related incident in the state, calling it the “biggest achievement” of the government. The government said in a release that 1,09,000 people were shifted from coastal areas to temporary shelters, including 10,918 children, 5,070 senior citizens and 1,152 pregnant women.
