Pharmacies across South Australia will soon adopt a smart controlled medicine register system by healthcare software provider Modius.
Modius announced that it has won a tender from SA Health for the supply of electronically controlled drug registers to SA public hospital pharmacies.
The HS8 Controlled Medicines Register, soon to be live in SA pharmacies, helps reduce the time it takes to keep a controlled medicine record. This smart platform also has features that prevent medication errors, as well as closed-loop administration and security that ensures all controlled drugs are tracked and accounted for.
why it matters
SA Health, a leader in best practice medication management solutions, chose Modus’ electronic medication register to future-proof controlled medication workflow management. In a statement, SA Pharmacy Digital Health Portfolio Lead Michael Baker said: This has resulted in improved efficiency and improved drug safety and compliance across the network.
big trend
This is Modius’ second state hospital win in Australia after winning a tender to deliver the HS8 to hospitals and healthcare facilities in Australia Western Australia last year. Its electronic medicine register is now available in more than 60 Australian hospitals, including private healthcare provider Ramsey Health Care’s 36 sites.
Outside Australia, HS8 has been implemented at NHS Dumfries in Scotland, while more NHS hospitals are expected to implement the system later this year.
