From fifty six so far To sher shahHindi film industry highlights the valor and bravery of real-life policemen, soldiers, politicians and more officers who serve the nation and uphold the dignity of its judiciary. But it is not often that we see a feature film dedicated to telling the story of a brave lawyer who fights to the death to get justice for her clients. zee5 new movie just one guy is enough It aims to bring to the fore the unheard true story of PC Solanki, who fought against a powerful and influential tantrik with all his might and was successfully convicted of raping a minor under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act, 2012) Act. prosecuted.
The film brings back Manoj Bajpayee and Suparn Verma, who turn out to be a hit team. the family man, Unexpectedly, you may find yourself taken back to the hit series just one guy is enoughK’s authenticity and Bajpayee’s raw talent. The film also stars Surya Mohan Kulshrestha as Baba and Adrija Sinha as Nu along with other important actors.
The film will captivate you straight from the hook. There is no build-up in the story which seems deliberate as the audience will feel the urgency and crisis in the lives of the victims. Everything seemed to happen in the blink of an eye, from filing a police report to catching Baba, which was quite satisfying to watch. You may find yourself on the edge of your seat as the film briefly covers corruption, abuse of power and influence in the first quarter of the film.
The only respite the audience will get is when Manoj Bajpayee’s PC Solanki is introduced. He is shown as a single father who prays fervently, quotes religious scripts and is a reputed lawyer who is recommended by a female policewoman to take on a high profile case. The film then follows an apparent court action where the defense attorneys do everything in their power to prove Baba’s innocence. From asking lewd questions to the minor victim to assaulting her psyche, every blatant attempt to malign her character and bravery takes place in the court, a presentation that is not far from reality.
Rape and sexual offenses are sensitive subjects as this is a minor one and you get a mix of harsh and uncomfortable portrayal of a brutal reality that thousands of people live with. Every exchange and argument in the film will make you twirl your toes and hang your head in shame at the brutal crimes committed at the hands of a man claiming to be a servant of God. An interesting jumla can be seen in the film where PC Solanki, a religious man, fights against a powerful God who misuses the same religion.
As the title suggests, Manoj Bajpayee long stars in this Apoorva Singh Karki engrossing drama. Ordinary lawyer with exceptional knowledge of POCSO Act and strong will to bring a smile on the face of the victim fought against the biggest lawyers of the country. With grit and dignity, she not only fought to put Baba behind bars, but also put her entire family in danger over the course of five years. Manoj Bajpayee plays every nuance of this character to the T. From his compelling speech to defending his case against eminent lawyers with a pinch of sass, Manoj Bajpai shines through. But this is not something unique to him as people already know him as the king of OTT and authentic performances.
While the film will make you uncomfortable, it is not the most brutal courtroom drama based on the sensitive subjects of rape and sexual offences. There are many serious courtroom dramas which will make you think about the society in the days to come. Taapsee Pannu starrer Pink is a standout, with Amitabh Bachchan’s performance as a lawyer hard to forget. But don’t misinterpret this statement as a comparison between the two ventures as Manoj Bajpayee shines on his own with his electrifying performance.
