The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared a video which shows Indian players making the day of local players and fans really special through their kindness. Leading pacer Mohammad Siraj generously gifted his bat and shoes to the young players as a token of appreciation for their valuable assistance during training. Siraj expressed his gratitude and decided to present him his favorite bat and shoes.
Flamboyant wicketkeeper-batsman Ishan Kishan also gave batting tips to the players while posing for photographs with them. Veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin sat with a local player outside the dressing room and shared his knowledge about the game. The player was thrilled to get valuable advice from the experienced spinner.
Captain Rohit Sharma and young batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad posed for photographs with local cricketers outside the dressing room, while batting maestro Virat Kohli politely signed autographs for the eager fans waiting outside the training ground.
Meanwhile, the Indian team participated in an intra-squad practice game ahead of the series against the West Indies. Unfortunately, Virat Kohli faced challenges outside the off-stump as he was once again dismissed behind the wicket. However, Yashasvi Jaiswal staked a strong claim to the coveted Test cap ahead of the series opener against the West Indies.
While Jaiswal’s Test debut seems inevitable, the subject of discussion could be his preferred batting position, which traditionally lies in the opening or one-down slot. The position was previously held by the experienced Cheteshwar Pujara, who struggled with his old style of Test match batting for nearly three years.
For the two-day training-cum-practice game, the Indian team included some local club cricketers apart from their own 16 players. The first Test is scheduled to begin on July 12.
