OnePlus today announced the OnePlus Nord 3, the latest entry in its midrange Nord lineup and the successor to last year’s capable OnePlus Nord 2T. One notable improvement compared to last year’s phone is the duration of support that OnePlus is promising: namely, three major Android updates and four years of security updates. That’s a one-year increase for both compared to the Nord 2T, though it’s less than the five years of support the company did for its top-of-the-line OnePlus 11.
The OnePlus Nord 3 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor and can be configured with up to 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. It has a 120Hz refresh rate screen this time instead of the 90Hz panel found on its predecessor, and the 6.74-inch flat display has a resolution of 2772 x 1240.
Like the Nord 2T, the Nord 3 has a maximum fast-charging speed of 80W, which OnePlus claims will charge the phone’s 5,000mAh battery from 1 to 60 percent in 15 minutes, and includes a built-in charging port for good measure. Physical alert slider included (a signature OnePlus inclusion). It will be available in Green or Brown color option and runs Android 13-based OxygenOS 13.1.
In terms of cameras, the OnePlus Nord 3 is equipped with a 50-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilization. This is the same sensor that OnePlus used in its recent flagship, the OnePlus 11, which had a decent camera system if not a class-leading one. Secondary lens includes 8 megapixel ultrawide, 2 megapixel macro and 16 megapixel selfie camera.
Pre-orders for the OnePlus Nord 3 have begun today and the phone will be available for open sale on July 12. It will be available for €449 (around $490) for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model, and €549 (around $598) for the 16GB RAM and 256GB storage model. A OnePlus spokesperson had earlier confirmed that the phone will be available in 16 European markets, as well as other global markets including India. There’s no sign of a US release for the handset, which isn’t surprising as OnePlus says , What’s more surprising is that the Nord 3 isn’t being released in the UK, at least not yet.
A OnePlus spokesperson recently said, “Sale of the Nord 3 in the UK isn’t set at all, but that could change in the future.” Said Technical Adviser, The spokesperson attributed the absence of a UK launch to “logistical challenges around customs” and added that the company has “temporarily paused sales of our smartphones through OnePlus.com.” At the time of this writing, all OnePlus phones are listed as out of stock although it is listed Priced at £499 for the 16GB RAM variant.
Along with the OnePlus Nord 3, the company also announced the more affordable OnePlus Nord CE3 for the Indian market, arriving in August.
