show based on books I’m beautiful in summer It takes a lot of liberties with its characters as well as side characters, which makes it livelier than other sets of teen romcoms like the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before series. While the books primarily focused on the lead trio, the show takes a deeper look at the world with supporting characters that really add a lot to the plot and story.

The show begins with the biggest and most awaited change in the lives of Bailey, Conrad and Jeremiah. We’re already on to next summer but this time they’re not returning to the Cousins Beach House for a few episodes. Susanna passes away between seasons 1 and 2 and that leaves a void in the lives of four and a half people, the major trio, Susanna’s best friend Laurel and to a lesser extent Bailey’s brother Steven. We see them going through a messy time, but only the type of mess changes through the episodes, the level of mess remains the same.
Bailey hates going to the summer home but after Susannah’s death, she doesn’t feel like herself. Not when things get worse between her Jeremiah and Conrad. Their happy ending has just begun, their relationship with each other has become muddled and the moments we only get to see in flashbacks, but they’re always enough to make Susanna’s presence all the more promising.
The essence of Season 2 is home, their last connection to each other and Susannah, and how they’re about to lose it. Many of the older characters also appear to suit the plot but this has no bearing on the plot or the plot. Bailey usually goes back and forth with Conrad and Jeremiah when they’re trying to save the house. What sounds repetitive but what makes the show worthwhile is the supporting characters.
Steven and Laurel both have fully functional subplots about not only their love lives, but college/work and each other. It’s totally worth watching and watching Steven try to win Taylor over is some of the most comic relief you’ll find on the show.

However one of the best parts of season 2 is the emotional scene in which the group remembers Susanna and mourns Haye’s death. The soundtrack definitely adds to the drama but Laurel aka Jackie Chung’s performance really adds a mature tone to the show and elevates the performances of the cast around her.
overall, summer i became beautiful s2 It’s still worth watching and it will make you want to sit back for another season to see what happens to all of them. It brings together the best of 2000s teen dramas like Pretty Little Liars with some new packaging and a great soundtrack.
