Remember Paddy Upton? He was the mental conditioning coach of the Indian cricket team during the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup. He was instrumental in India’s success in that tournament. Upton will be back with Team India but this time with the national men’s hockey team. Hockey India has named him the mental conditioning coach of the Indian men’s hockey team ahead of their campaign in the Hero Asian Champions Trophy as well as the high-stakes Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023, where the team will compete for direct Olympic qualification. The South African player is scheduled to conduct a three-part mental conditioning session in the ongoing national coaching camp for the Indian men’s core group at SAI, Bengaluru from July 1.

Apart from cricket, Paddy has provided mental training workshops to the South African men’s hockey team, Australia men’s hockey team, Indian Super League (ISL) teams FC Goa and FC Hyderabad, England men’s rugby team and many other sports teams.
