The Sony UWP-D Wireless Combo produces great sound and is hassle-free. Jack Wallen/ZDNET
I have been creating video content for over a decade. During that time, I’ve done all kinds of experiments to improve the quality. From the camera to the lighting, the background and the atmosphere… every development helps elevate my content to a whole new level. But one improvement that never fails to really enhance the quality of content is the sound.
However, recently, I have found my Audio Technica AT8024 My film studio was getting more and more noisy. Sometimes, it was an echo of light. But most of the time, it was outside noise, like airplanes flying overhead or my neighbor’s AC unit. This became problematic as I had to repeatedly stop and wait for the noise to subside.
Don’t get me wrong, the AT8024 is a very useful mic that can enhance the quality of your video content, especially if you rely on your camera mic for your work. But if you really want to improve your content, you should focus your attention on Sony UWP-D, 1 Wireless Microphone System,

Sony’s UWP-D wireless microphone series
The Sony UWP-D Wireless Mic Combo delivers excellent sound in a small, user-friendly package.
Just the day before, I was laying on my floor, stretching, before a run, when I noticed my Sony lavalier mic. I realized right away that this was the solution to my audio problems. Not only will they be better at isolating my voice, but I’ll also get more resonance if I position the mic properly (taped to my chest under my shirt). This way, my audio will sound more natural.
It was a great win on many levels, the biggest being that I would get to use those expensive mics again.
And this is the first thing I’ll say about the Sony UWP-D,1 Wireless Microphone System: It’s not cheap. You can find this pair (transmitter and receiver) on Amazon for $553. But if you are serious about your video content, then trust me when I say it is worth every penny.

use the mic
One of the best features, apart from the excellent sound these mics produce, is that they are ready to go right out of the box. Just insert the batteries, turn them on, and they’ll pair automatically. Combine those features with a long operating range of 330 feet and you’ve got the perfect lavalier mic that’s ready to rock.
The OLED display is easy to read and gives you all the information you need. Jack Wallen/ZDNET
Typically, I use these mics by taping the end of the mic to my chest (with surgical tape to avoid residue), running the cord under my shirt, and clipping the pack to the back of my pants. The transmitter pack is lightweight and small enough that you can hide it without worrying that it will pull your pants down. And by taping the mic to the chest, you get the bonus of getting resonance out of the voice (so there’s more bass). The only precaution you need to take is not to rub the mic against the shirt. It takes a little trial and error, but once you get down to it, you’re good to go.
This wireless mic pair has done a fantastic job of elevating my video material. If you’re looking for a way to do the same, you’d be wrong if you didn’t consider this option.
The package includes a portable diversity tuner, body pack transmitter and lavalier microphone. UHF-TV channels 14 to 25. For digital audio integration, the SMAD-P5 Digital Mi Shoe Adapter (with select Sony camcorders) is sold separately. Supplied accessories include a windscreen, mic holder clip, cold shoe mount adapter, belt clip, XL-BMP conversion output cable for the receiver, and a stereo mini plug-BMP conversion cable.
