Tools for creating interactive video lessons have come and gone over the years. Some have been swallowed up by larger companies and others have gone the MySpace way. Some even keep ticking over as reliable options for teachers. These are the things I’d like to share with you this week.
click on view
ClickView is a tool that you can use to create interactive video lessons with videos you create as well as videos you find online. What I love about ClickView is its clean and simple interface.
In ClickView you can add short-answer, multiple-choice and true/false questions to a video’s timeline. You can also add annotations to a video in the ClickView editor. One feature of ClickView that many teachers will love is the ability to prevent students from moving forward by simply guessing the answers rather than actually watching the video. Your completed ClickView lessons can be shared to Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams, or any other LMS you choose.
Watch this video for a brief overview of ClickView.
class hook
ClassHook is a service that you can use to find and share video clips by topic, subject, and standard. Within ClassHook are features called pause prompts and live discussions. Pause prompts are time-stamped questions that you add to video clips in ClassHook. When you’re showing a video to your class, the questions you type as pause prompts will automatically pop-up at the timestamps you specify. The video will stop and the question will appear full-screen in its place. You can then discuss the prompt with your students.
edpuzzle
Edpuzzle’s popularity increased in 2020 and 2021. It was one of the most searched terms on my blog in those years. Since then it has been continuously developing and adding more features including using AI to generate interactive video questions.
With a free EDpuzzle account, you can add multiple choice, true/false and short answer questions to videos you create as well as videos found on YouTube, Vimeo and other video sharing sites. When you add questions, you can expect students to answer them in order to watch each segment of the video. In this video I provide a complete overview of using EDpuzzle to create video lessons using videos I find online.
