UK strategy focus and busy aisles at Med-Tech Innovation Expo

All roads in the medical and healthcare sector led to the NEC, Birmingham earlier this month as the UK’s medtech community gathered at the flagship event for UK and Ireland’s medical device manufacturing, the Med-Tech Innovation Expo, on 7-8 June Was.

With government officials taking a leading role in the conference program and around 150 state-of-the-art exhibitors, thousands of enthusiastic and engaged visitors from across the country to demonstrate the importance of the sector to the UK economy and underline the UK as a global science superpower Doing business with visitors. The show floor, on day two, was an exciting snapshot of a vibrant, fast-growing and economically important sector.

The CPD accredited conference programme, which was sometimes standing room only, was delivered over two phases and included representatives from the Office of Life Sciences, the Department of Health and Social Care, Johnson & Johnson, Barts Health NHS Trust, Pennine Healthcare, Boston Scientific Insights from , NIHR, SBRI Healthcare and Innovate UK.

Reflecting on his visit, David Lawson, Director of Medical Technology, Department of Health and Social Care said, “The key message to me is that medtech is vitally important to health care in a wider way. Till covers the entire route of the patient.
