Kaur, daughter of pharmacists Nirmal Singh and Darshan Kaur, expressed her desire to serve the people of Jammu and Kashmir with a special focus on the health and education sectors.
“I would choose to become an IAS officer and work for the betterment of the people in Jammu and Kashmir. There are many challenges in the health and education sector in Poonch and I am determined to tackle them,” she said.
He expressed immense happiness on his success. “We are all very happy. Our happiness knows no bounds. My family is also feeling extremely proud.”
Kaur completed her graduation in Poonch and obtained her Masters from the University of Jammu. He has given the credit of his success to self study. “I relied on self-study and joined a Test series. Hard work, consistency and patience were the key factors in my journey,” she added.
Acknowledging her family’s support during her preparation, Kaur said, “I expected to clear the exam, but I didn’t expect to get such a high rank. Exams are unpredictable.”
Kaur had earlier cleared the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) exam in 2021 and is currently undergoing training in the summer capital Srinagar.
Kaur stressed on the importance of devoting 7 to 8 hours daily to studies. “My teachers are pleased with my dedication,” she shared.

As soon as the UPSC declared the result this afternoon, hundreds of people including her neighbors and relatives thronged her home in Radio Station area to congratulate the family.
Her father still cannot believe what his daughter has achieved. “We did not expect that she would secure 11th rank in the civil examination, though we were sure that she would clear this examination. I cannot say how happy we all are,” he told reporters here. “We’re all proud of him.”
She said that she was always dedicated to her studies and cleared the exam without any coaching.
Uncle Pratipal Singh said that Kaur used to spend most of her time in studies. “Our daughter is very simple. Her aim to achieve something big in life is fulfilled today. She cleared KAS and IAS without any coaching.”
He told that he has done M.Sc this year. “She had got 32nd rank in KAS, but she was unhappy and appeared for the exam again. The result of which is still awaited,” he added.
He had told his family members that he had done well in the UPSC exam as well. “We knew she would qualify. But to get such a good rank is surprising,” said Chacha.
Political parties including National Conference (NC) and Apni Party also congratulated him.
“We heartily congratulate Waseem Ahmad Bhat of Anantnag district for securing 7th rank and Prasanjit Kaur of Poonch district for securing 11th rank in UPSC CSE 2022 final result,” the party said on Twitter.
It also extended best wishes to those who could not make it to the final list.

Poonch and its neighboring Rajouri district have witnessed an increasing number of terror attacks from across the border, with officials saying that 26 army personnel, including three officers and five paratroopers, and seven civilians have been killed in eight terror attacks since October 11, 2021. in the twin districts.
Security experts have called for a change in strategy to deal with militancy, including strengthening of intelligence and deployment in the border districts of Poonch and Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir.
