Virat Kohli’s performance in the first innings of the World Test Championship (WTC 2023) final against Australia was poor. He scored 14 runs before getting dismissed by a brilliant delivery from Mitchell Starc. That poor show with the bat didn’t go down well with the fans. From above, Kohli was seen having a hilarious conversation with Shubman Gill in the dressing room and this left the fans irked even more. As a result, Kohli was roasted on Twitter in front of fans.
A day later, Kohli shared an Instagram story in which he is allegedly hitting out at the trolls. He shared a quote that says, “You must develop the ability to be disliked in order to free yourself from the prison of other people’s opinions.”

Kohli was dismissed by Mitchell Starc in the 19th over of the innings. After pitching, the ball shaped up and the bounce on it was the reason for Kohli’s fall. The bounce took the Indian batsman by surprise and before he could check his shot, the ball had kissed the gloves and gone past the sticks. Kohli walked back disappointed as the Indian fans at The Oval fell silent.
India’s great batsman Sunil Gavaskar was very critical of Kohli. He told Star Sports that the delivery that caused Kohli to fall was not unplayable and it was Kohli’s wrong technique that got him out. Gavaskar said that Kohli plays on the front foot most of the time and that could be one of the reasons for his wicket.
