Taking to his Twitter, Agnihotri wondered aloud about the business strategy that bloody daddy Makers are experimenting. Why would anyone show a 200 crore film for free? What is this crazy business model?” Vivek Agnihotri tweeted, “Sad news that Bollywood is celebrating its own disaster.
Several users opined about JioCinema and Ambani’s strategy of providing content for free for a year and attracting viewers only to later slap on a subscription fee. Agnihotri asked another question, “So in a way this 200 crores is their advertising cost?”.
Director Ali Abbas Zafar talks about the release decision as quoted by The Indian Express bloody daddy Despite the demand for its theatrical release on OTT. “The film deals with drugs, blood and gore, and it was important that we keep it on that premise. We didn’t want to tinker with it to suit theatres, and hence we decided to do a direct-to-digital release,” he said.
