The much-awaited IPL 2023 final between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans turned into a major disappointment for the thousands of fans gathered at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Incessant rain continued throughout the evening, which delayed the toss and eventually washed out the match. As the rain continued even after the cancellation, many spectators who had arrived without umbrellas found themselves stranded till late in the night. However, an unlikely hero emerged to save the day – a giant-sized avatar of Virat Kohli.
The decision to call off the match and move it to a reserve day was announced at 11:00 PM IST. Despite the cancellation, the rain showed no sign of respite, creating significant puddles on the pitch and outfield, effectively turning the Narendra Modi Stadium into a miniature pond.

Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, looked to become the first team after Chennai Super Kings to successfully defend the IPL trophy.
