Plant protein is a protein-rich dietary source derived from vegetation. This can include a variety of foods, but nuts (both fresh and roasted), legumes, seeds, and beans are the primary sources of plant protein. Potatoes and other vegetables, including broccoli, kale, asparagus and mushrooms, also contain protein. Nutrient-dense Ezekiel bread is another high-protein plant food derived from barley, wheat, lentils, millet and spelt.
Unlike animal proteins, plant-based proteins are generally low in saturated fat and cholesterol. Additionally, plant-based protein is a healthy choice for many individuals and is high in fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants.
