One of the questions asked by her followers was about fashion. “Does Apple ever wear any of your fashion collections?” a follower inquired. The actress answered the question by posting a photo of her daughter Apple Martin in the same Alexander McQueen gown she wore to the 2002 Oscars. The apple, which Gwyneth shares with her ex Coldplay’s Chris Martin, stood in the actress’ walk-in closet as she posed for the cameras.
The piece seen in the photo was an Alexander McQueen gown with a mesh sleeveless top that featured a crisscross pattern from the neck to the belly. The skirt of the gown is a ruffled black material. Back when Paltrow wore the dress, there was a lot of controversy over how bold it was. Critics labeled it as the actress’ biggest fashion disaster and described it as “ineffectual”.

In a 2021 segment with Vogue called “Life in Looks,” the actress spoke about how cool the dress was despite the hate she received when she wore it. “Everyone really hated (it), but I think it’s kind of dope,” Gwyneth admitted. He said, “I had a weird hangover about it for a while because people were really critical. I think, at the time, it was too goth… too tacky. I think it startled people.” but I like it.”
Gwyneth talked about the particular piece of clothing once again in a 2013 Goop Q&A. This time he admitted that he must have done something differently while wearing the dress. For starters, she explained that she would be wearing a bra. She later explained, “I still love the dress, but I should have worn a bra, and I should have just had simple beach hair and less makeup.” Gwyneth added, “Then, it will work the way I want it.” Was – a little punk at the Oscars.”
