Dressed in a cream-coloured suit, with his purple All England Club member’s pin attached to one lapel, as well as a striped shirt and polka-dot tie, the retired Federer walked to his seat and was greeted by his wife, Mirka and stood between the Princess of Wales. in a special section above one of the baselines in the main stadium of a Grand Slam tournament.
Federer nodded and thumped his chest while repeatedly saying “thank you” as applause and thunder echoed under closed ceilings on a rainy second day at the grass-court event he once dominated.

Before play began on Center Court, an announcer announced that Federer was being honored for his contributions to tennis and to these special lawns in particular.”
Federer, who turns 42 on August 8, announced his retirement at the end of last year after multiple knee operations.
The last match of his career was a quarterfinal loss to Hubert Hurkaz at the All England Club in 2021.

Novak Djokovic, who won his first round match on Monday, is trying to match Federer by winning his fifth consecutive trophy and eighth overall at Wimbledon this year. Martina Navratilova, who has won the women’s singles title nine times, holds the overall record in the tournament.
“When I stop, the tournament is still alive. This tournament is bigger than any player I’ve ever played,” a young Federer said in an interview shown during the film on Tuesday. “I’m really looking forward to the day when I’m retired and I can come back and enjoy tea on the terrace.”
The video included scenes of various players talking enthusiastically about Federer.
2022 Wimbledon runner-up Ons Jabeur said, “Roger is a legend. He makes every shot look easy.” Alex de Minaur spoke of Federer’s “exquisite beauty on the tennis court”.
