Marketa Vondrousova won her first Wimbledon title by defeating Ons Jabeur in the final of the Women’s Singles Championships. She became the first unseeded woman to win Wimbledon with a 6–4, 6–4 victory over Jabeur, who was ultimately discouraged after losing her second consecutive final at the All England Club.

Vondrousova posed with the trophy with a big smile on her face. Significantly, she was ranked 99th last season. And was also out due to injuries from April to October. The 24-year-old tennis Czech player has more than one reason to celebrate. It is to be noted that Vondrousova married Stefan Simek on July 16 last year. On this day, one year later, she will be at the championship with her husband.

The 28-year-old from Tunisia is the only Arab woman and the only North African woman to reach this far in singles at any Grand Slam tournament.
Vondrousova’s run to a Slam title was hard to imagine at the start of this fortnight.
She went 1–4 in previous encounters on grass at Wimbledon, reaching the second round only once, before going on a 7–0 run that included wins against five seeded opponents.
