Team India got off to a disappointing start on the third day of the much-anticipated World Test Championship (WTC) final as opener Bharath was dismissed for just 5 runs. However, experienced middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane took command of the innings and scored a decent half-century. Unfortunately, his innings was cut short when he gave away his wicket for 89 runs, leaving India in a vulnerable position.
After Rahane’s dismissal, the Indian batting lineup struggled to hold their ground, and wickets kept falling at regular intervals. The opposition bowlers displayed their strengths by exploiting any weaknesses in the Indian batting line-up. The innings collapsed in the end, with Team India managing to post a total of 296 runs on the scoreboard.
As the second innings began, the Aussies faced a challenging start as the Indian bowlers tightened their grip, not allowing them to score freely. Pacer Mohammed Siraj dismissed Usman Khawaja early, while spin wizard Ravindra Jadeja picked up crucial wickets of the formidable Steve Smith and Travis Head. The Australians now found themselves with a lead of 296 runs, and at the end of the day’s play they were 126 for 4.
