Apple’s upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) is expected to be its biggest yet. After years of rumors and leaks, Apple may finally take the wraps off its mixed reality headset, ushering the company into a new product category and giving the world a first look at its effort to prove that virtual reality can Worth investing.
There are sure to be more: operating system updates, new apps and features, and possibly even some new hardware. Here, we’ve pulled together details on how and when to expect to see the main WWDC keynote, as well as some of the announcements we expect from Apple.
When is the WWDC 2023 keynote?
This year’s main WWDC keynote is slated for Monday, June 5 at 1PM ET / 10AM PT. It will take place as a digital and in-person event at Apple Park in Cupertino, California, with Apple CEO Tim Cook expected to kick things off.
Where can I watch WWDC?
Apple will live stream the WWDC keynote from its website And Youtube channel, You can also check out the stream that we’ll embed at the top of this article once it goes live. If you can’t watch the keynote live, you can watch it from a pre-recorded version that Apple will post on YouTube after it airs.
With that said, let’s take a look at some of the biggest announcements we expect Apple to make during WWDC.
Apple’s long-rumored mixed reality headset debuts
Apple’s Mixed Reality headset is arguably one of the company’s most exciting products in years. While Apple has still not confirmed its existence, reports suggest that it will be able to provide both Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) experiences.
The headset will likely exist as a standalone device, sporting a battery pack that connects to the headset using a proprietary cable. So far, reports suggest that Apple is busy building VR versions of some of its core apps, including Safari, FaceTime, Apple TV, Apple Books, Freeform, and more.
With an estimated price tag of around $3,000, Apple’s headset won’t come cheap. Although Apple is reportedly working on more affordable versions of the device as well, we won’t see them at this year’s event.
Brand new 15-inch MacBook Air
Apple is also expected to launch a larger 15-inch alternative to the MacBook Air – a device that at long last featured a 13-inch display. We first heard about the device last year, and since then more detailed rumors have piled up.
The 15-inch MacBook Air will likely come with the same in-house M2 chip used in the MacBook Air model released last year. As stated in a report by BloombergIt may also have the same 3024 x 1964 resolution as the 14-inch MacBook Pro, although the screen may be slightly less sharp because there’s an extra inch of space to fill.
Beyond that, though, it’s unclear at all whether Apple has plans to reveal any other new Macs. The company is rumored to be working on a 13-inch MacBook Pro, 13-inch MacBook Air, and 24-inch iMac, all of which could come with a new M3 chip.
New features for iOS, iPadOS and macOS

WWDC is an event for developers, which means we’re bound to see some updates for iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and more.
This includes the reveal of iOS 17, which is rumored to be a A variety of small quality-of-life updates, Apple has already previewed the suite of accessibility features that will likely come with the new OS, including a Personal Voice tool that lets users create a synthetic voice with 15 minutes of training.
Apple is also expected to include some updates to Stage Manager in iPadOS 17, the multitasking interface that my colleague David Pearce said “still doesn’t work,” even after Apple officially released it last October . updated sound like they are more on the technical side of thingsHowever, and less about its general functionality.
Not much is known about what’s in store for macOS 14 and tvOS 17, but Apple is reported to be rolling out a major update to watchOS 10 that adds A new widget-heavy interface,
A Mental Health-Focused Journaling iPhone App
Speaking of iOS 17, a report from wall street journal indicates that Apple will launch a new journaling app for the iPhone that will let you write down your thoughts and activities throughout your day.
It can also suggest topics for you to write about and offer “All Day People Discovery” to find out who you spend time with as well as when you do something that interests you. You usually don’t on a certain day. While Apple is expected to reveal the app at WWDC, the company will likely launch it in the fall.
The opening of Apple’s closed ecosystem
Apple is running out of time to comply with the European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA). While some rules have already come into effect, “digital gatekeepers” like Apple have until March of next year to allow users to download third-party app stores and sideload apps within the EU, some Apple has expressed strong opposition to this over security concerns.
So it wouldn’t be too surprising if Apple uses WWDC to preview some of the changes it’s making to its iPhone and iPad ecosystem. (Or at least quietly notify the developers that the change is coming.) According to BloombergApple is looking to “overhaul” iOS to comply with European regulators.
In addition to allowing sideloading, speculation is rife that Apple may no longer require third-party browsers to use Apple’s own WebKit engine, which would allow for greater interoperability among mobile browsers. The company may also open up access to its NFC chip, which is currently limited to Apple services like Apple Wallet and Apple Pay.
What’s next for Apple?
Apple has a lot of new Macs on deck, and while we’re not expecting them all to arrive at WWDC, it’s always a possibility. Apart from the upcoming MacBook we mentioned earlier, we know what Apple is working on Mac Pro with Apple’s in-house chipAn updated 24-inch iMac, and two new models of the Mac Studio.
We’re also keeping an eye on Apple’s next move in the AI space. While the company has been relatively quiet about its AI ambitions, The company’s job listing shows It seeks to hire people who are experts in this field. It recently banned employees from using ChatGPT over concerns about data leaks, raising questions about whether it will build its own AI system for workers like Samsung.
Of course, we can also wait for the release of the iPhone 15 later this year. Rumors suggest that all models of the iPhone 15 this time around (not just the Pro) will come with Dynamic Island, and may also feature a USB-C charging port (thanks to yet another EU regulation). However, this will have to wait for September.
