Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh believes that Virat Kohli’s stature in the 2023 World Cup will be equal to that of Sachin Tendulkar during the 2011 edition. He also said that Virat Kohli was instrumental in India winning the 2011 World Cup and the former India captain would be hungry to repeat the feat as the tournament begins in India in October this year. During a conversation with News24 Sports, Harbhajan also told the rest of the team to let Kohli play with freedom and not put too much pressure on him.
Harbhajan Singh said, “If other people do this thing, then I would say let Virat Kohli play his game. When he plays his game, he cannot be stopped. He is a champion player, no doubt about it.” Is.”
Looking back at the last World Cup, Virat Kohli has been one of India’s most consistent performers in ICC events. However, despite his consistency, he has struggled to make an impact in the semi-finals of the 2015 and 2019 World Cups. Harbhajan Singh, however, expressed hope that the batsmen would be keen to rectify that if India reach the knockout stage this year.

Harbhajan Singh also said that there is enough quality in the Indian team and all the players should share the responsibility and Kohli should be allowed to play his game. “If Virat gets out, no problem, we will manage. We have Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Shubman Gill, they are all powerful players. So, I hope the pressure on him is a bit less and he can play his game,” Harbhajan said.
Virat Kohli has been brilliant in ODI cricket and the right-handed batsman has scored 12,898 runs in 274 ODIs at an impressive average of 57.32. He hasn’t been at his best in the recent past but has shown signs of being at his best this year. He will be a key figure for India in the ICC World Cup this year.
