In the first Test of the series against the West Indies, Team India introduced two debutants, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan, who received Test caps. While Jaiswal played the opening role, Shubman Gill came in at number three, with Kishan replacing KS Bharat as wicketkeeper-batsman.
Kishan’s first taste of Test cricket behind the stumps proved to be largely successful, as he took two catches, including one while keeping to Ravindra Jadeja. However, it was his vocal presence that caught the attention of cricket lovers. The spirited keeper constantly motivated the bowlers, shouted instructions and even tried to disturb the concentration of the West Indian batsmen.
A compilation of Ishan Kishan’s stump-mic conversation circulated on Twitter, revealing interesting moments. At one point, he can be heard instructing Virat Kohli, who was positioned at slip, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was at silly point, to adjust their positions slightly. In another instance, Kishan expressed his surprise when Ravichandran Ashwin walked away from the batsman.
