In recent times, Bollywood has gained an unfortunate reputation for copying material from the West and often from the South film industry. Amid criticism over remake culture, veteran actor Manoj Bajpayee made the shocking claim of being the first person to create a character similar to Joker.
in an interview with Cinema Express, The Family Man actor was asked about the similarities between his interrogation scene in the film Ax and the Joker scene in The Dark Knight. For those unaware, Bajpayee played the role of Raghavan, a psychotic killer who will send shivers down the spine.

The veteran actor seemed happy to be asked the question as he admitted that he had discussed it with his friends. He said in the interview that he (Aks) was the first person to come up with ‘a character similar to The Joker’. Bajpayee publicly acknowledged the consequences of making such claims, given how iconic Heath Ledger’s Joker is in pop culture.
He said, “If we had said so, people might have called us pompous. ” I had the task of embodying absolute evil. I approached the character with flamboyance,” he said. He also said that he approached the character with the thought that ‘evil needs to be attractive’.
