New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday predicted an increase in rain activity over the northwestern region of the country from July 25. The intensity of rain over the states of Gujarat and Maharashtra, which have been receiving torrential rains for the past few days, is likely to reduce from today.
Flood-like situation has arisen amid incessant rains in Gujarat
Extremely heavy rains lashed the western state of Gujarat, causing water-logging and flood-like situation in several of its districts and NDRF has been deployed to carry out rescue operations. The IMD has issued a red alert for the states for July 23, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over the state.

IMD predicts light rain in Delhi as Yamuna nears danger mark
The Met department has predicted light rain with thundershowers in the national capital, where Yamuna river water is flowing near the danger mark and is likely to cross the danger mark anytime as the water level in the river was recorded at 205.75 meters this morning.
Meanwhile, the Hindon river in Noida crossed the danger mark on Saturday night and several houses in the vicinity were inundated as water entered the low-lying areas. In view of the increasing flood situation, people were evacuated from the area.

Heavy rain likely in Maharashtra for next 3 days, IMD issues red alert
According to IMD’s daily weather bulletin, heavy to very heavy rainfall will continue over Konkan and Goa, Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra from July 23 to July 26. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg and Kolhapur districts for the next 3 days. Mumbai and Pune districts are in yellow as heavy rainfall is expected in these areas.
IMD predicts heavy rains in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal on July 23. Heavy rain is likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tanam on July 23 and 24.
Heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan
The IMD said that heavy rains would continue in Madhya Pradesh during the next five days. Four districts in the central state – Indore, Ratlam, Chhindwara and Mandsaur – are on orange alert as the Met department has predicted heavy rain accompanied by lightning. The Meteorological Department has also predicted heavy rain over East Rajasthan on July 23, 24 and 26 and over West Rajasthan on July 25.
